Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to join local South East Cornwall Scouts at their International Jamboree at Pencarrow House near Bodmin. As well as having Scouts from Sheyll’s own village of Millbrook there were Scouts from as far afield as Japan.
Sheryll was first given a tour of the gardens and took part with scouts in the Adventure zone on the zip wire, rope course and climbing wall. Sheryll was also shown around the many other zones including air, creative, eco, energise and the global development village. She also learnt of the many off site activities including the splash zone and trips onto the moor.
Sheryll, a former Brownie and Guide herself, said, “What a fantastic opportunity for young people here in Cornwall. I would like to thank Lady Iona Molesworth-St Aubyn for allowing the use of her fantastic home. I would also like to thank everyone who has put in so much to this Jamboree to make it the success it clearly is.
“I was really pleased to meet Wez Swain who is planning the first ever Scout expedition to the North Pole. This really is a massive undertaking and you could help by visiting http://www.scoutsonthepole.com
“Scouting is such a fantastic activity to get involved in at any age and I would encourage anyone to get involved if they can be it as a participant or as a Leader. It really is worthwhile.”
