Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join a number of Coffee mornings across her South East Cornwall Constituency. The events were part of the ‘World’s largest coffee morning’ held on Friday to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.
The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraising event which started in 1990. Donations from the coffee mornings on the day are made to Macmillan. In 2011 51,000 people signed up to coffee morning, raising a record £10 million.
Sheryll said, “On Friday I attended some of the coffee mornings, which had been organised in support of the McMillan Cancer Care event ‘World’s biggest coffee morning’. First stop was at Emilie’s where we enjoyed some of the delicious homemade, gluten free pasties and cakes. I was pleased to see the local Cornwall Councillor for the area, Cllr Bernie Ellis, also showing his support. I am always amazed at how many times I see Bernie when I am attending functions in and around Menheniot. He really is a very hardworking Councillor who keeps in touch and supports the people of his Division.
“A really well attended coffee morning was well underway at Jelly Pebbles in Liskeard by the time we arrived. A huge variety of cakes were served and it was so good to see so many people supporting this worthy cause. It was also good to be able to browse the fantastic goods on sale in the shop and I will certainly be returning to make some purchases as part of my shopping for Christmas.”
