Last Wednesday Sheryll was pleased to join Plymouth MPs to note that more than 1,000 children had been helped by Operation Encompass which makes sure that schools are aware if the child has been the witness or victim of domestic violence the night before.
The initiative has been spearheaded by constituent and police officer Sgt David Carney-Haworth and covers both Plymouth and part of South East Cornwall. The event marking this milestone took place at Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park ground.
Following the event Sheryll Murray said, “Whilst I wish this initiative was not needed I am pleased that the police are working with local schools to ensure that the child involved is getting the support they need. I would like to congratulate and thank Sgt David Carney-Haworth for all his hard work in getting this scheme together. Seeing and hearing 1,000 children in Home Park showed the amount of impact this scheme has had and I am keen that we roll this out across the rest of my constituency and beyond.”
