On Saturday local MP Sheryll Murray went to the storage and sorting area for the Saltash Foodbank to see for herself the operation and to thank the many volunteers who have created this valuable service.
The Foodbank is an industrial unit off Gilston Road where all the goods received are weighed, sorted, use by dates are checked and then packages are made up for those in need. Different packages are made up for different groups from single people to families with young children.
In a statement Sheryll said, “It was nice to meet the team and to hear first hand the good work they are undertaking. They have managed to organise the whole process very well and I would like to congratulate them for getting their systems together so quickly. I would also like to thank them for the many hours they give up to help those in need and would encourage all of those who can to give generously to our local foodbanks.”
