Following a report by the Marine Conservation Society which failed the water at Looe East beach, local MP Sheryll Murray got in touch with the Environment Agency on Tuesday as soon as it was brought to her attention and asked for an urgent meeting to address the concerns of local people and to get the problem sorted out.
In a statement Sheryll said, “I realise the importance of Looe beach to the tourism sector which is so essential in Looe. People need to know that the water is safe in Looe and I want to ensure that the Environment Agency is urgently doing all it can to address this problem. I will be discussing with them any and all possible sources of this fail rating and want to ensure that this never happens again.
“I am working with local people including Councillor Armand Toms who is the local representative for East Looe. I am inviting some people to also meet with the Environment Agency as I believe, through working together, we can get a long lasting solution.”
