Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, was pleased to join Polperro Nursery to celebrate World School Milk Day.
World School Milk Day is organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and is celebrated in over 30 countries around the world. Launched in 2000, the day is used to promote the importance of drinking milk at school to children in a fun and educational way.
The goal of World School Milk Day is to celebrate school milk on one day of the year at the same time all across the world. This year in the UK, MPs are showing their support for school milk by visiting local primary schools between 26th September – 16th October. Whilst at the schools they will be handing out school milk to 1,000's of children.
Following her visit Sheryll said, “It was a pleasure to join the staff and children at Polperro Nursery as part of World School Milk Day. There was much mooing from the cardboard cows and it was so good to see the children actually using milk to make some custard which I believe they took home to eat. I am supporting the school milk scheme as part of World Milk Day because I know what a fantastic and healthy drink milk is. Milk is a natural drink without the many colourings and additives which many alternative drinks have. I am pleased the government is supporting milk in schools through a subsidy.”
