Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to visit the Wild Woods project in Lostwithiel. The project, run by Richard Brown, helps youngsters succeed.
Sheryll said, “This is a fantastic project and the success rate Richard has with youngsters in his care is phenomenal. His enthusiasm with this project is clear. He makes the youngsters who get involved part of the project and then steers them into jobs that they find interesting in the local area. By doing this he has a really talent of getting youngsters into jobs that they make a real go of.”
Wild Woods describes itself as offering young people, “a chance to learn, a place to chill out and somewhere to enjoy.” … “On a day by day basis, young people will learn to manage plants and the woodland. They will learn craft skills and build rustic seating. They will learn to cook and eat healthily.”
The project was started last year and considerable clearance and the building of a shed has already been undertaken on the site. Sheryll was able to tour the site and see for herself the range of edible plants, the sculpture and the plans they have for the top of the site which features fantastic views down the valley and over the valley.
Sheryll continued, “This site has such fantastic potential I know that Richard is the right person to inspire and enthuse these youngsters, some of whom are often hard to reach, to make the area great. I feel sure he will also be able to steer them in directions which will encourage them to be a really useful part of society."
