Member of Parliament & Westminster Lion Sheryll Murray was pleased to join local Lions and the former International Director Lion Douglas X Alexander from New York at the District Convention dinner on Saturday in Torbay.
The Lions Clubs International is an organization with over 45,500 clubs and more than 1,350,000 members in 205 countries around the world. The convention, which had over 300 delegates, covered the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
Douglas X Alexander, from Brooklyn, New York was elected to serve as a Director of the International Association of Lions Clubs at the international convention held in Sydney in 2010.
Following the event Sheryll said, “The Lions do such fantastic work across my constituency and beyond and I would like to thank all these people for their efforts – this truly is the big society on an international scale. I would like to thank the local Lions for their kind invitation and in particular District Governor Lion Marianne Warren who led the weekend. It was particularly interesting to meet some international members including Lion Douglas X Alexander and French Lion Lious Prechoux.”
