On Saturday evening local MP Sheryll Murray compèred a concert of the joint choirs of Wantage Male Voice Choir and Saltash Ladies Choir at Burraton Chapel in Saltash.

The Charity that the Saltash Ladies Choir is supporting this year is the Saltash Children’s Appeal. The objectives of Saltash Children’s Appeal is to assist parents of, or other persons looking after sick, ill or disabled children and young persons under the age of 18 years in meeting expenses as a consequence of the sickness, illness or disability which may not otherwise be met from any other statutory or charitable source. As the Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Minister for Culture who happens to also be the MP for Wantage, Ed Vaizey, Sheryll was able to deliver a special message from him. Ed Vaizey said “I’m delighted that Wantage Male Voice Choir are performing in Saltash. I have been a long time supporter of the choir and I’m sorry that I’m not able to be there tonight to watch what will no doubt be another brilliant performance!  I also send my best wishes to Saltash Ladies Choir. Choirs are a fantastic cultural asset and I’m delighted that Saltash Ladies continue to thrive after nearly 70 years of singing!”

Following the concert Sheryll said, “It really was a fabulous concert and I am so pleased that it was so well attended.  I would like to thank the W           antage Male Voice Choir for coming down and the Saltash Ladies Choir for organising such superb entertainment.”
