Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to join Trewithen Dairy owner Bill Clarke to turn the turf for the new buildings which are part of a £12.4 million investment at the dairy. The Clarke family started processing milk at their farm between Lostwithiel & Liskeard in 1994 and is now the largest bottler of milk in Devon and Cornwall. The dairy deals with 28 farmers within a 22 mile radius and supplies big names like Asda, Aldi, Waitrose and Sainsburys.
Sheryll Murray said, "I am really pleased that Trewithen Dairy is benefiting from this RDPE funding. This investment will triple the capacity of the dairy which will jump from 25 million litres per annum to 75 million litres per annum. This site is such an important employer with over 100 staff in my constituency and I am so pleased this business is going from strength to strength.
"It is always a pleasure to visit Trewithen Dairy and I am always amazed at the progress this dairy makes. When I accompanied Bill Clarke on a tour of the dairy I really saw the enthusiasm he has for creating what is a fantastic, and tasty, product."
