This week local MP Sheryll Murray visited the Sterts theatre to find out about the exciting line up they have for the forthcoming year. Sheryll met with Dr Steve Jefferies, Chairman of Sterts Council, and Centre Director Peter Woodward.
Sterts, the theatre which started as an open amphitheatre over 30 years ago, was named after the pig farm which used to be on the site in Upton Cross. The theatre, which is now a ‘Strategic Arts Client’ of Cornwall Council can take an audience of up to 400 people. Sterts also works with schools, has a very successful restaurant and has bbq and bar areas on site.
The year kicks off with the Spring Season at Sterts with “A Curious Evening of Trance & Rap with the Ogden Sisters” on the 13th April followed by the Miracle Theatre production of “Tin” set in Cornwall’s past mining industry. This is followed in May by Moongate Theatre’s “Two”. Full details and booking are available at www.sterts.co.uk
Following her visit Sheryll said, “It is fantastic to have such a fabulous facility so close to hand in Sterts. The line up for the year looks interesting and exciting. I would encourage all my constituents to take a show in this year. I will certainly be doing my best to do so.”
