Local Conservatives welcomed Peter Booth, who lives in the Tamar Valley near Gunnislake, as their new Chairman at their Annual General Meeting on Friday.
Peter’s interest in politics started at an early age. He was the Chairman of the Conservative Student Group during his time at Essex University where he attained his degree in Government. Peter has worked in the House of Commons and was the past Chairman of Brighton Kemp Town Conservative Association. Peter made designer glasses frames as half of the Booth & Bruce company.
In a statement local MP Sheryll Murray said, “I was really pleased when Peter agreed to be my new Chairman. I have really got to know Peter when he joined my campaign team and it is fantastic to have someone who is both interested in and knowledgeable about politics. His experience both in the House and running a local association makes him the ideal person to steer the Association through the General Election.”
In a statement Peter Booth said, “I would really like to thank all the members of the South East Cornwall Conservative Association for giving me such a warm welcome to my new role. Having been out on the doorsteps with Sheryll I know how hard she works for the people of South East Cornwall and will do my utmost to ensure her re-election in May.”
