Local MP Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to attend the official opening of the new winter quarters of the local produce market in the Kernow Mill car park at Trerulefoot. The project received a £3,000 taxpayer funded grant towards a marquee to help local producers have somewhere to sell their goods.
Sheryll Murray MP said, "It was a real pleasure to be able to attend the official opening of the new marquee. This facility will give new opportunities to very small business to allow them to sell their goods all year round. It is by giving facilities like this to new start ups which allows them to grow and possibly become successful ventures in the future securing new local jobs for the future."
Celwyn Richardson, manager of the market said, "the market has been trading for more than a year, and last winter the stall holders demonstrated their hardiness by turning up week in and week out in all weather. However, to improve our facilities, we decided to investigate the purchase of an on site marquee".
Linda Emmett, East Cornwall Local Action Group manager, who is responsible for dealing with the funding said, "as the Local Action Group is nearing the end of its funding programme, it is keen to leave a long term legacy. We hope the marquee will assist with making the market co-operative viable in the long term, offering the opportunity of a new route to market for many more local producers."
