Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to attend the awards ceremony following the Siblyback Challenge which was an event designed to showcase to employers and candidates alike that age, physical and mental capacity or ex service background should be no barrier to employment.
The course involved many of the challenges available at the Siblyback Outdoor and Active Centre including the High Ropes and raft building. The day was designed to give employers, potential candidates and providers difficult tasks to show how people can work together much as they would in the workplace.
Following the event Sheryll said, “I was very pleased this event was organised. It allowed new networking and showed that many perceived barriers simply are not there. Many of the people I work with are older are disabled or indeed were in the services and they make excellent MPs or staff and I am glad this day of challenges has highlighted the place we all have in the workplace. I would like to thank all those involved in the organisation of the event in particular Siblyback, Cornwall Marine Network, Pheonix, the Army reservists and the Job Centre.”
