Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, has expressed concern over the fire at Lean quarry.
In a statement she said, “My first concern, as always, is for the local people who live near the Lean quarry site and any workers on the site including our brave local fire fighters. My office has been in touch with the Council and will monitor the situation.
“I have been assured by Cllr Lance Kennedy, the cabinet member responsible for Community Safety and Neighbourhoods, that nobody is in immediate danger. Local residents with respiratory weakness should obviously take care. I would advise anyone in the vicinity to listen to local radio so they can be kept up to date on any changes to the situation.
“The Council has now moved the incident to the Emergency Planning Room in County Hall and I have been asked to be kept informed of any developments.”
