Local MP Sheryll Murray met with 8 year old Beatrice Kowalski and her mother Katherine in Parliament this week. Beatrice was a finalist for the Best Sibling at the Contact A Family awards held in the Speakers House.
Beatrice’s brother Lawrence has an undiagnosed condition and also suffers from Epilepsy, her mother Katherine told Sheryll how it was Beatrice who raised the alarm with her one night when Lawrence began having a seizure in his sleep. Beatrice helped to keep Lawrence breathing whilst her mother phone for the ambulance.
Sheryll Murray MP explained, “Beatrice is such a lovely little girl and so brave. I’m proud to have such a wonderful child live in my constituency and to have met her. Beatrice works hard every day to entertain her brother and her actions on the night that Lawrence was taken to hospital were brilliant.”
The Awards ceremony was hosted by Contact A Family, a charity set up to help those with disabled family members and attended by the House of Commons speaker and the Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work, Penny Mordaunt MP.
