Local MP Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join Liskeard and Looe Rotary Club at the Tapenades Restaurant in Liskeard for a meal. Following the meal Sheryll took a number of questions from local members on a variety of topics. Sheryll also joined Rotarians to back their campaign to ‘End Polio now’.
Rotary, along with partners, has reduced polio cases by 99 percent worldwide since the first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979. Polio is close to being eradicated but Rotary still need help. Rotarians have helped immunise more than 2 billion children against polio in 122 countries. For as little as $0.60, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life.
In a statement following the meal Sheryll said, “I would like to thank Liskeard and Looe Rotary Club for their kind invitation. It was interesting to hear the members views and I will take these on board. I would like to applaud the work Rotary has undertaken on Polio and hope they manage to raise the resources to end this terrible disease once and for all.”
