‘Proud’ – that was the theme of Torpoint Nursery and Infant School when they had their Year 2 Leavers Assembly on Monday. The Assembly was joined by local MP Sheryll Murray. The children put on a production of the story of Plop the barn owl who has a problem with the dark, a story by Jill Tomlinson.
Sheryll was also on hand to award the school council with their PADL award which stands for Promoting Active Democracy Loudly. The School Council achieved the award following a visit to Bodmin where they were interviewed about their work. The Council went onto County Hall in Truro where one member even took part in a debate on health. The School Council, which meets on a weekly basis, was awarded the Gold award.
After the event Sheryll said, “It is always a pleasure to visit Torpoint Nursery and infant School. Their talent shone through during their performance of the story of the barn owl given at their Leavers Assembly. The school has clearly done an excellent job enthusing, educating and developing the confidence and skills needed to produce responsible citizens for the future. I warmly congratulate the teachers, the parents and most of all the year 2 students themselves on a job well done. They can truly be proud.”
