Local MP Sheryll Murray joined many of her former NHS colleagues to tour the new Penntorr Health Centre in Torpoint on Sunday.
Sheryll explained, “Up until now the Rame Group Practice had the nurses working from one site and GPs at another. Community Health Workers like District Nurses and Physios were working in an old run down building. This meant patients in Torpoint were not getting the best from the NHS. Despite this, the hardworking health care professionals always put patients first. I worked for the NHS here for over 20 years and I saw the difficulties first hand which is why I made a new multi health care facility for Torpoint a priority.”
The state of the art facility boasts areas for consultation, treatment, physiotherapy, ambulance staff and space for community nurses. The centre also houses a Lloyds pharmacy and shop. The surgery opens for business tomorrow and community healthcare staff are in the process of relocating.
Sheryll continued, “It was really nice to see some of my old work colleagues and reminisce over old times. I spent many happy years working for the Rame Group Practice and it was so good to see so many familiar faces.”
