Charlotte Murray, niece of Conservative MP Sheryll Murray, took up the fundraising ‘Midnight Madness’ challenge in memory of her Uncle, Neil Murray, who was so tragically lost at sea earlier in the year.
Midnight Madness is the major fundraising event for 2011 in the Fishermen’s Mission SW calendar and has raised a record £11,000 this year. Charlotte raised an amazing £2100 plus Gift Aid and gratefully thanked all her sponsors for their generous support.
Local MP Sheryll Murray commented, “I am so proud of my niece. She has done a fantastic job raising money for the mission. I know Neil would be so pleased with the effort Charlotte has made in such a worthy cause. The Mission were such a strong support to my family when we lost Neil and it is fantastic that Charlotte has put something back in.”
Gina Moore SW Regional Fundraising Manager says “We are so grateful to Charlotte who took the challenge raising valuable funds for our charity in memory of a well known and greatly respected member of the Looe fishing community. Fishing is still sadly peacetime’s most dangerous occupation, a truth reinforced every time a boat sinks or fishermen are lost or injured at sea. The Fishermen’s Mission charity stands shoulder to shoulder with these fishermen and their families giving support and care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year”.
