Local Member of Parliament Sheryll Murray was pleased to open two new facilities at St Martin’s CofE primary school in Liskeard on Friday. The school opened a new library and a new walkway.
Sheryll’s first duty was to open the new library. Librarian Claire Collins opened the Library with Sheryll at one of the largest Primary Schools in Liskeard. The Library also featured a full sized mural painted by Jess Marley Clarke featuring the nursery rhyme “Hey diddle diddle, The Cat and the fiddle, The Cow jumped over the moon, The little Dog laughed to see such sport, To which the Dish ran away with the Spoon.”
Next it was onto a new area of the playground to open a new walkway and nature walkway. The new area includes a seating area, nature projects such as bug hotels, a pond and a meteorological centre.
Following the visit Sheryll said, “I was delighted to visit St Martins Primary School in Liskeard to open the new Library and Nature Trail. Both of these superb projects have been progressed with the help of school staff and I would like to pay tribute to all of the staff at the school who worked tirelessly in their own time to ensure the pupils have wonderful facilities like these. I am so proud of all the schools I visit throughout South East Cornwall. Wherever I go I see evidence that we have pupils and staff who are really committed to their school.”
