Local MP Sheryll Murray has today welcomed a number of recent projects which were given lottery funding in South East Cornwall totalling almost £20,000.
The biggest local recipient was Deviock Parish Council who received money to install gym and fitness equipment in a local park allowing residents to keep fit. Funding was also given under the Hereos Return programme to allow three second world war veterans and a war widow for a commemorative visit to Italy last month. Lastly Sir Robert Geffery’s Pre-School was awarded funding to allow them to buy furniture and a carpet suitable for younger children.
Sheryll says, “I am pleased that some of the money being raised through the lottery is coming to good causes here in South East Cornwall. I would encourage local people who need funding for projects to apply. Sometimes it is also up to us to back bids for funding. On the 29th June we have the opportunity to contact ITV’s People’s Millions and get funding for a great local project in Saltash to build a climbing wall. All we have to do is make a call to back this money coming to South East Cornwall. I certainly will be doing so.”
The People’s Millions community climbing project would see the construction of an indoor climbing wall featuring a number of different routes. The new wall would mean that both new and experienced climbers from the community could take part in the sport in a safe environment all year round.
