Sheryll Murray, the MP for South East Cornwall, was delighted to have been able to join the young people at their Democracy Action Day in Torpoint. She said that, “It was a pleasure to meet the Members of the Youth Parliament and see Connor Flew the MYP for East Cornwall again.
Following the meeting Sheryll said, “The day was really useful for me and it was interesting to hear the ideas of these young people who do not yet vote. It certainly made me realise that we politicians must listen to the youth of today because they come forward with some very good issues. I invite everyone from South East Cornwall to come forward with your concerns and ideas through my office. Just because you are not old enough to vote yet does not mean you cannot have your say.
“The terrifying scenes we are seeing in London and elsewhere over the past few days cannot be tolerated and I welcome that the Prime Minister has returned and that Parliament has been recalled. This criminality is not the way we act in our society and I praise the youth parliament and other democratic bodies in showing there is a better way.”
