Sheryll Murray MP joined many local people, Polperro Fishermen’s Choir and the Fishermen’s Mission to Bless the Fleet at a service held on Friday in Looe Harbour.
Sheryll explained, “I attended the Blessing of the Fishing Fleet in Looe. The service was held under the cover of the Quayside Centre and supported by the Polperro Fishermen’s Choir. So many local organisations took part in the Service and I would like to thank the Looe Harbour Commissioners for organising the event for the Mission.
“Mission Chief for Cornwall Keith Dixon took the service and my brother in law who represents the Mission in SE Cornwall, Ian Murray, paid a tribute for those fishermen who had been lost whilst fishing.
“This time of year is very busy on the water and I would urge everyone who puts to sea to ensure they have adequate safety equipment for their journey. A personal floatation device and hand held VHF Radio are in my opinion a must and if possible EPERB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon ) or a PLB ( Personal Location Beacon).”
