Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, made a visit to Liskeard School and Community College on 8th July 2011 so as to evaluate the school’s current facilities.
Sheryll began her visit at Liskeard’s new ARC facility that opened in September 2010. The ARC facility specialises in providing specialist help to students with autism. The children at the facility were all very welcoming to Sheryll and she found it to be “a fantastic resource not only for Liskeard but for the whole of south-east Cornwall.”
During Sheryll’s visit, Liskeard School was also at the climax of their yearly challenge week so as a result, Sheryll was able to attend a variety of events showcasing the fruits of the children’s last week of work. Among these events was the school’s interpretation of “Bugsy Malone” ”and “Dinner at the Ritz” a display of a whole week’s cooking.
Donna Bryant, the school’s head teacher was very hospitable during Sheryll’s visit, spending almost the entirety of her time of the visit with Sheryll. The tour covered a wide range of areas of the school. Sheryll praised the schools efforts with the challenge week being described as “a fantastic variety of projects” by Sheryll.
