Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, this week visited Trewidland School to present 6 pupils their SAT key stage 2 certificates and to celebrate the school coming top of the SAT key stage 2 league table in Cornwall.
The school, which only has 50 pupils, has missed out being included in previous League tables because of the threshold. This year this threshold has been reduced to include small schools such as Trewidland.
In a statement Sheryll said, “I was more than happy to go to Trewidland school and congratulate these children for their achievement. This just shows what small schools like Trewidland are capable and I am very pleased that the Education Secretary Michael Gove was able to lower the League Table threshold for schools across Cornwall.
Local Councillor and former Chair of Governors Bernie Ellis added, “As a Governor and the Cornwall Councillor for the area I am delighted that a school in my division has done so well.”
