Local MP Sheryll Murray joined local Parliamentary Candidate Cllr Scott Mann at metal recycling firm Sims in Bodmin. The firm invited the politicians to see for themselves the industry they work in.
They describe their business as, “Sims Metal Management are global leaders in the secure and sustainable management of resources on behalf of industry, organisations and the wider community. Today, we have over 40 trusted and compliant UK metals recycling sites, over 200 sites globally and over 6,700 employees. We recover and recycle all types of metals including: scrap cars; consumer goods; surplus metal from manufacturing processes; ferrous and non ferrous scrap metal; large plant and machinery plus many more.”
Following the visit Sheryll said, “I was keen to see for myself the work undertaken to make sure we re-use what we throw away. This recycling is incredibly important to our environment and our economy. I would like to thank the staff at Sims for giving us such an in depth look at this important industry.”
Scott added, “It is important that we see a level playing field for legitimate recyclers like Sims. We are writing to Tony Hogg, the Police and Crime Commissioner, to ensure that enforcement takes place over illegal so called recyclers who often just fly tip what they have collected.”
Sheryll said, “It is important that residents and businesses use a registered waste recycler. Registered recyclers can be found through the government website at:
