Sheryll Murray visited five South East Cornwall farms last week to find out the issues they face as their local Member of Parliament and as a member of the Environmental, Food and Rural Affairs Committee. During her tour she visited an arable farm, an egg farm, a pedigree beef farm, a hilltop farmer and a dairy farmer.
One common theme during the visits was the influence of technology including tractors that use GPS and can largely drive themselves. Sheryll also picked up on a number of concerns which were raised with her which she will take to the responsible persons.
In a statement Sheryll said, “Many of our farmers in South East Cornwall produce our valuable food in so many different ways and the day was really valuable to me in ensuring that I was able to talk to farmers face to face about the various issues and concerns they have. It is particularly important to me as I sit on the Environment Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee. I would like to thank the NFU for facilitating the visit and am very grateful to the farmers I visited for giving up their valuable time to speak to me. I visited five farms and it was a clear illustration of just how diverse our farm production is in this Constituency.”
