After a very wet morning campaigning in Saltash on Saturday, Sheryll Murray was pleased to see that the bridge to cross the A38 at Carkeel roundabout had arrived in Saltash even although work still needed to be done.
In a statement Sheryll said, “I am very pleased that the foot bridge which will cross the A38 has at last arrived in Saltash. I have been asking for the bridge for a long time from former Minister of State for Transport Theresa Villiers and the current Secretary of State for Transport, Patrick McLoughlin. I met both in Cornwall at different times emphasising the need for this bridge. It is fantastic to see it finally arrive and to see the work so clearly underway.”
In an update the Highways Agency outlined their works this week saying, “Steel fixing and shuttering will continue on the north ramp next week and will commence on the south ramp. Steel and bolt cluster fixing to columns on the north side will be completed and waterproofing to the north abutment will be undertaken. Preparations will be undertaken for the bridge structure, including touching up the painting.”
