Local MP and Lion Sheryll Murray exchanged bannerettes with Saltash President Lion Neil Challen at their Charter Dinner held at the China Fleet Country Club on Saturday. Over 110 people attended the event which included a 70s/80s disco.
Bannerettes are often exchanged between groups of Lions and Sheryll was pleased to award the brand new Palace of Westminster bannerette to Saltash Lions
During the event Sheryll thanked the Saltash Lions for all the work they had undertaken including how Saltash Lions has helped individual Pupils from Saltash.Net, supported Saltash explorers with their India trip, donated a defibrillator to the town, took and funded 50 local people with learning disabilities on a fun day out, assisted Children’s Hospice South West in raising £30,000 and organising the Saltash May Fair as they have done for the last three years.
Following the event Sheryll said, “I would really like to thank the Lions from Saltash and across South East Cornwall for the fantastic work they do. They really are the big society in action. The Lions are the biggest service organisation across the world and it is a great honour to me to be a part of that in my role with the Palace of Westminister Lions.”
Lions have 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members which make them the world's largest service club organization. Their members do whatever is needed to help their local communities.
