Sheryll Murray MP has welcomed the news that David Hunt, who went out to sea with her late husband Neil, is running the London Marathon in aid of the Fisherman’s Mission.
On the 22nd April 2012 David will run with 35,000 other people the 26 miles and 385 yards that makes up the London Marathon. David, who is just about to turn 50, is running as part of the NSPCC Go team as he is also trying to raise money for them. In total David hopes to raise £2,000 for each charity. David explains on his fundraising page, “I am running the London Marathon in memory of a good friend of mine called Neil Murray, a well known and well loved Cornish Fisherman who sadly perished at sea in March of 2011, I spent a fair bit of time with Neil at sea and got to know him well, he was very funny, very kind and a thoroughly decent man, I miss him but I do know for certain he would think I was bonkers signing up for the Marathon.”
Sheryll commented, “The Fisherman’s Mission provides emergency support for Fishermen and their families and I know how comforting it is to have them available when you need them most. Thank you David, I know Neil would really appreciate this fantastic effort.”
