Sheryll Murray’s Liskeard based caseworker was elected to serve as a Councillor on her home Town Council on Thursday.
In what was an amazing political turnaround Anne Double won the seat after the former Liberal Democrat Leader on St Austell Town Council resigned. The last time the area was fought politically in 2009 the Liberal Democrats won the seat. This time they came fourth behind Labour and an Independent with only 14% of the vote after an over 16% swing to the Conservatives.
In a statement Sheryll Murray MP said, “I am very pleased that my caseworker was successful on her election to her local Town Council. Anne is an excellent caseworker who really works her hardest for local people and I know she will do the same for her constituents.
“I would like to take this opportunity to praise and thank the many Parish and Town councillors across Cornwall. These volunteers give up a lot of their time to work hard for their local communities in what can often be a time consuming and difficult role.”
