Local MP Sheryll Murray, following information that she had received that the long awaited footbridge over the A38 was to be delayed, spoke to the Executive Assistant for the South West at the Highways Agency this evening and he has confirmed that the works programme will be back on schedule.
Work will commence on the evening of Monday 26 January 2015 and the Highways Agency are working to a completion date of 31 March 2015 although there could be a small delay if there are any unforeseen circumstances.
Residents will see the Footbridge in place and should see work on the approaches to the Roundabout completed by the end of March.
Sheryll said "I lobbied hard for this scheme since my election in 2010 and was shocked to hear that Saltash Town Council had been told it would be delayed. I am delighted to have been given reassurance from the Minister and senior personnel at the Highways Agency that there will be no delay in the scheme following my immediate intervention. The people of Saltash have waited long enough for these improvements and I was determined they would not have to wait any longer. I am also please to see the Footbridge is almost complete and stored in a warehouse waiting to be put in place and requested photographs to reassure my constituents that this bridge is under construction."
