Local MP Sheryll Murray was honoured to be asked to officially open the Albaston Fete in her role as their local MP. The Fete included a large amount of both trade and charity stalls and took place at the village’s Millennium Green.
The Fete was celebrating its 30th year starting off in the eighties with a few tables at a local pub. As well as the many stalls there were competitions, classic cars and music from Yorkie – the family band.
Amongst her duties, Sheryll was asked to judge the Town crier competition. She was very pleased to award David Turner, the winning crier from Tavistock, with his award and all the criers with a very welcome bottle of beer.
After the event Sheryll said, “Albaston Fete was a fantastic success and I would really like to thank all the organisers for making me so welcome and for making the Fete what it has become. It was good to see so many local people all enjoying the event. I do hope that they have made lots of money for their chosen charities.”
