‘Send My Friend to School’ messages collected for the PM
Local MP Sheryll Murray was on hand to accept messages to the Prime Minister from pupils from Lerryn and St Winnow schools for the Prime Minister who is attending the UN Summit in September where it is hoped he can take forward the message help the millions of children who do not attend school.
Gabrielle Westland, Head of St Winnow School explained, "Did you know 58 million children are still missing out on school across the world. Girls, children with disabilities and those living in conflict are most at risk. The children at our schools, are very passionate about changing this".
Following her visit Sheryll said, “I was very pleased to meet the children of Lerryn and St Winnow Schools and to answer the questions they had about my job. I certainly will be taking the messages to David Cameron and will be urging him to look at how we encourage greater participation in education throughout the world.”
