South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray gave her full endorsement to the former Culdrose Chief, Tony Hogg describing his selection as the Conservative Candidate for the post of Police & Crime Commissioner as a “fantastic result”.
She said, “I have met Tony and a number of occasions and am pleased to give him my full endorsement as the best person to lead the police in Devon & Cornwall. Tony has the experience and the drive to make a real difference. I will be playing an active role in the campaign to ensure he is elected as I know what a difference he could make to policing in South East Cornwall.”
Tony has said that his aim is to cut policing by bringing it closer to the people. He is standing on a platform of clear leadership to lift police morale and visible policing with the public playing their part too. He wants to tackle serious crime by having a police force, not a police service and ensure early intervention to turn around the lives of young people.
This new job, created to bring about democratic accountability to our police forces, takes place on November 15th Commissioners will have a strategic and powerful role to drive the fight against crime and anti-social behaviour.
