Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to join family at a celebration at Kingsand Community Centre for Doll Jago’s 100th Birthday. Doll, who is a distant relation of Sheryll’s late husband Neil, was always known fondly to the family as ‘Auntie Doll’.
Doll Jago, Kingsand’s oldest resident, was married to Fred who was also a fisherman in Cawsand. They had two children Tony and Pat. Doll was very much part of the local community including the Cawsand Bay Rowing Club, the church and many other community groups.
At a packed Kingsand Community Centre people queued to wish the centenarian best wishes with flowers, present, cards and of course cake.
Sheryll said afterwards, “I would like to wish Doll a very happy 100th Birthday. She has always been very active and independent. I think the fact we are celebrating her 100th birthday today is an example to us all that if you keep active and busy it benefits your longevity.”
