This week Sheryll Murray MP attended the launch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group Report on dairy in Parliament, a report which looks to promote the health benefits of milk and supports the country’s milk and dairy products.
In a statement Sheryll said, “Dairy Farmers in South East Cornwall have been particularly hard hit historically from the Bovine TB situation and particularly in recent times where milk prices have on occasions dipped below that of bottled water.”
The recommendations that the APPG set out are fully in support of the British Dairy Industry and is urging local authorities to prefer British milk and dairy within schools, hospitals and all other public bodies, while it also asks to Government to work towards new free trade agreements with the European Commission to lower high tariffs and trade barriers.
Sheryll continued, “I welcome the recommendations in the report and urge more to help our local dairy industry. If anyone wishes to see a copy of the report please contact my constituency office in Liskeard by calling 01579 344428.”
