Local MP Sheryll Murray joined local Council Candidate for the Rame Peninsula John Tivnan to welcome a £463,360 government grant for The Peninsula Trust Limited.
Andrew Percy MP, the Minister for Local Growth explained in a letter that there was a “£463,360 grant to create 6 work units in Rame, Cornwall, for the Peninsula Trust. Work will include renovation of their existing property to create an area suitable for training, events and exhibitions. Full support for local businesses will be provided.”
In a statement John Tivnan said, “This is great news for the village of Millbrook and the wider Rame Peninsula area. I understand that the business support will include information, marketing, training and access to business support. A public path will also be improved to increase accessibility. I want to work with our local MP to promote projects which benefit our local communities with government money.”
Sheryll Murray added, “I remember this building as Hill's Bakery when I was a child. It was then owned by the parents of my daughter’s friend Terry and Wilma Spencer. Formerly of the Royal Navy, Terry had his own fishing boat. I am so pleased to see this building being put to good use for my home village. I have been able to tell Ministers about the background of the building and the project face to face. I am proud that I have helped to secure the decision from my Conservative Government to invest a half a million pounds in the village of my birth.”
