Double Celebration for Produce Market

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join Cornwall Business Partnership Chairman Thelma Sorensen OBE on Saturday to celebrate the first anniversary for the produce market at Edinburgh Woollen Mill’s Kernow Mill. It was also announced at the celebration that a grant had been awarded to the project from the Rural Development Programme for England for a winter cover for the market.  The Market, which is held in the car park, has several stallholders selling local produce to both residents and tourists alike. The grant for the winter cover was for £3,000 to include some marketing equipment.

Flag decommissioning talks of 'many stories'

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join Girl Guides for the decommissioning of their old flag and the blessing of their new flag at Liskeard Wesley Methodist Church. The new flag was a donation from the Old Cornwall Society.  The Minister, Revd Ruth Goodland, spoke of the many stories the flag being decommissioned had and how the new flag would see many new stories of the existing 2nd Liskeard Girl Guides which have been in operation for 92 years.

World School Milk Day celebrated

Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, was pleased to join Polperro Nursery to celebrate World School Milk Day.  World School Milk Day is organised by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and is celebrated in over 30 countries around the world. Launched in 2000, the day is used to promote the importance of drinking milk at school to children in a fun and educational way.

Coffee fundraiser popular in Cornwall

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join a number of Coffee mornings across her South East Cornwall Constituency. The events were part of the ‘World’s largest coffee morning’ held on Friday to raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support.

New ‘Green’ welcomed in Menheniot

Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, was pleased to attend the official opening of Menheniot Village Green with Sir John Salusbury-Trelawny 14th Baronet. 

Donkey Park “a great day out”

Local MP Sheryll Murray made time in her busy schedule recently to visit the Tamar Valley Donkey Park to listen to the issues faced by this important tourist venue in her constituency in St Ann’s Chapel.  The Park is home to over 25 donkeys and has many other attractions such as goats, sheep, pigs, indoor play areas, and adventure play area and even Santa stops off to meet children in the run up to Christmas.

MP encourages us to vote to Transform our Patch

Sheryll Murray MP is delighted to back the three projects in her South East Cornwall constituency which are part of the ‘Transform Your Patch’ national regeneration schemes that will deliver up to 165 improved outdoor spaces for communities throughout the UK in 2012 and early 2013.

Pentillie festival of speed hailed “a great success”

Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to attend the first ever Pentillie Festival of Speed at Pentillie Castle on the banks of the Tamar near St Mellion. Following her visit Sheryll said, “I am so pleased the show was such a great success, I thoroughly enjoyed my day and would like to thank all the organisers for doing such a fantastic job in what was at time challenging conditions.”

Brain injury support charity praised for work

On Wednesday Sheryll Murray MP made a visit to the brain injury support charity Headway based in Lostwithiel to learn about the hard work the volunteers and staff put in. Around 250 people suffer from traumatic brain injuries in each of Cornwall’s constituencies each year with around 40 being classed as moderate to severe. Headway’s mission is, “To work to improve the quality of Life of those with a traumatic brain injury, their relatives and carers”.
