Dualling of A30 welcomed by Sheryll Murray MP

It has been announced that the A30, which is partly in her South East Cornwall constituency, is to be dualled at Temple. The news, which came as part of the Autumn statement, has been welcomed by local MP Sheryll Murray.  Sheryll said, "This is fantastic and long overdue news for Cornwall which the LEP has already said could bring as much as £100 million to the Cornish economy. This bottleneck causes huge problems in the summer hurting both tourism and business.  Cornwall Council has been working with the Highways Agency, business leaders and the local community to develop a proposal to bring forward the dualling of this stretch of the A30. I would like to thank them for all their efforts and look forward to this work being completed as quickly as possible."

Flood Chaos in South East Cornwall

Local MP Sheryll Murray has expressed her concern about the amount of flooding and has vowed to do all she can to alleviate the problem for residents. Sheryll's own village of Millbrook was among the many communities which have been affected by the floods, by landslips and by fallen trees.  Read more about the floods here.

After his successful campaign to become Police & Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg was looking to get on with his new role.  He took time to thank all his supporters and assured everyone in a pledge of impartiality that he would act fairly to everyone without fear or favour.  This will put him in line with judges and police officers who also swear an oath of impartiality.  The chief constable will remain in operational control of the police.  Click here for the full result.

A branch of Police Cadets in every town

The Conservative candidate to be Devon and Cornwall's first Police and Crime Commissioner has promised to set up a branch of the Police Cadets in every town. The former Naval Commander's number one priority is to cut crime by bringing policing closer to the public and, as part of that he has called for a renewed effort to develop the Police Cadets to give young people a strong sense of social responsibility.

Liskeard Lip Smacking pies praised

Sheryll was very pleased to join Cornish Olympian Annie Vernon to promote Liskeard Lip Smacking pies. Three local retailers have got together with the Portas project to promote the town.

Solar project for MP's school

It was back to school for MP Sheryll Murray on Friday as she visited Millbrook School, which she attended as a young girl, to hear about a new solar panel project. Sheryll was joined by Olympic medallist Annie Vernon to hear about the project which, through Solar Schools, hopes to raise £10,000 for solar panels for the school.
