Looe Rifle and Pistol Club invites MP to have a shot!

Local MP Sheryll Murray joined local members of the Looe Rifle and Pistol Club at their home in the Polean Industrial Estate to try her hand at their sport on Friday.  During her visit Sheryll tried some of the many weapons owned by members of the club including air pistols, an air rifle, a semi automatic weapon, rifles and a couple of black powder pistols.

Help for flooding victims welcomed by Sheryll Murray MP

Local MP Sheryll Murray has welcomed news of extra funding for the government.  Making a number announcements on Friday in a letter the Prime Minister told Sheryll that for those homeowners and businesses which have been affected by flooding, they will provide repair grants of up to £5,000 per house and per business to help people build in better flood protection as they repair their homes and businesses.  He has also confirmed that those businesses which have been affected by the floods will get 100 per cent business rate relief for three months and will get an extra three months to pay business taxes they owe.

MP presents ‘Get into fishing’ awards

On Friday local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to present Western Training Association awards to help students ‘Get into fishing’ through their course which was sponsored by the Princes Trust.

Extra Bellwin money welcomed for Cornwall

Following calls from Sheryll Murray MP, the Government has announced that additional money has been found under the Bellwin Scheme to offset the disadvantage Cornwall faced following its move to a Unitary Authority.  The scheme exists to give special financial assistance to local authorities which would otherwise be faced with an undue financial burden as a result of providing relief and carrying out immediate work due to large-scale emergencies -usually storms.

Another Murray runs for Office!

As the polls opened Bosun Murray today launched his election campaign to become the Purr Minister.  Local MP Sheryll Murray’s cat has entered into the competition being run by the Battersea Cats and Dogs home to highlight the charity.
