On Saturday, local MP Sheryll Murray, joined volunteers in Fore Street as part of the Portas Clean Up Liskeard weekend. Projects included painting, planting and cleaning.
Sheryll said, "Unfortunately I was not able to attend in the morning as I had hoped because the changed date now clashed with my regular parliamentary advice surgeries. When I arrived I was very impressed by all the hard work that local people had obviously undertaken as part of the project and the difference clearly showed.
"I would like to thank all those companies and individuals who donated the materials to allow this project to proceed. I would also like the many volunteers who turned up on what was a very cold day and got stuck in. I was amazed at the transformation of Fore Street with its newly cleaned paving, flower pots and freshly painted shops. Their efforts were tremendous.
"I hope that many people will visit Liskeard over the next few weeks and see for themselves the results of the hard work. There are some fantastic shops in Liskeard and it is well worth a visit if you want to search out those Christmas presents."
