Thanks to choir for money raised
Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to attend a concert by the Polperro Fishermen’s Choir on Sunday which was held at The Parish Church of Saint Lalluwy in Menheniot to raise money for the Mission to Seafarers.
The Polperro Fishermen’s Choir was founded in 1923 and its traditions and objectives are as strong as ever. All the concerts are given free of charge and many charities throughout Cornwall benefit from the members’ love of singing. This year the Mission to Seafarers is one of the nominated charities to benefit from their concerts.
The Mission was founded in 1856 and today offers emergency assistance, practical support and friendly welcome to crews visiting 260 ports worldwide. The Mission’s chaplains and volunteers promote the spiritual and physical wellbeing of 1.3 million seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs.
Following the concert Sheryll said, “I really enjoyed listening again to the voices of the Polperro Fishermen's Choir. I would like to say a great big thank you to all those who help with the choir as they do so much good for local charities through the enjoyment people get from their singing.”
