Sheryll Murray, MP for South East Cornwall, has expressed her thanks to the emergency services of the constituency.
Whilst on an “Insight Patrol” with a local policeman on Friday night, learning first hand about the job they undertake, they were called to a burning boat on the banks of the Tamar and reports of explosions.
Sheryll was on hand to see how all the emergency services worked together. Our escorts, the police, were on hand to deal with any disruption and to make immediate enquiries. The fire service was on hand to put out the fire and deal with any dangers. The MOD police were first on the scene – this, after all, could have been an attack on the dockyard. The coastguard attended in case there was any river based issues and the ambulance was on hand in case anyone got hurt.
As it turned out it was just a small dinghy on the beach that had caught alight with a couple of small gas cylinders upon it for cooking.
In a statement Sheryll said, “This was a great example of how our emergency services worked together. They were all on hand and made sure the situation was dealt with, regardless of the very remote location. I want to thank them all for the excellent job they do and for always being there even on a Friday night when many have finished for the week.”
