Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to be invited to Trago Mills to do the official switch on of the new solar panels on the roof of the Trago Mills store at Twowatersfoot.
Sheryll said, "I would like to thank Bruce Robertson and Trago Mills for giving me the opportunity of seeing first hand by far the best way to do solar energy. Sometimes I have complaints about solar from residents worried about the visual impact but I have heard nothing but praise for this installation. This also puts energy production literally on top of where it is needed."
The over £500,000 investment of 1388 panels will generate an estimated 318,880 kWh. The investment is part of a wider policy which covers other Trago stores.
Bruce Robertson commented, "The cost of energy for us all, whether at home or in commerce, has become an increasing burden in recent years, with all indications suggesting there is worse to come. It was imperative a solution was identified that provided substantial savings and certainty for the future - energy security itself being a major consideration in ensuring the business is well placed to remain a popular service within the community for years to come. The SolarWorld system has a linear performance guaranteed over 25 years, and this particularly commended the product to us; Trago having no experience with PV whatsoever."
