Local MP Sheryll Murray MP welcomed the donation of two open return tickets to the Fishermen’s Mission from First Great Western.
The Fishermen’s Mission is the only fishermen’s charity that provides emergency support alongside practical, financial, spiritual and emotional care. They help all fishermen, active or retired, and their families.
Sheryll presented the tickets to Ian Murray, who is the brother of Sheryll’s late husband Neil, as he now fundraises for the Mission.
Sheryll explained, “First Great Western approached me and asked that I would choose a local charity for the tickets. The Mission was a fantastic support to me when Neil died whilst out fishing and I do what I can for this fantastic charity so they can offer the same support to others.
“I was pleased last year when Ian was nominated for the Cornwall Celebrates Volunteering Community Award for his work with the Mission. I would like to thank Ian for all the fundraising he does for the Fishermen’s Mission and hope these tickets aid them in their work.”
