Local MP Sheryll Murray was pleased to attend the display of over 100 Flags at the weekend at Mount Edgcumbe House created by women from the Forces and local community groups to celebrate the Maritime heritage of the area.
Mount Edgcumbe explained, “Women from local care homes and the Royal British Legion were among those who joined with Forces families and the Plymouth Military Wives Choir to create the colourful banners using a batik method on silk. The ‘Colours of Life’ project, which was funded mainly by the Ministry of Defence, was also supported by Cornwall Council, Saltash and Torpoint Town Councils and the charity Circular Arts.”
Sheryll said, “What a fantastic colourful display. I was so pleased I took time to see for myself this fantastic installation in the park. I would like to thank all those who took part in creating the flags for their hard work.”
Sheryll continued, “I was also really pleased to hear this week on the news that the Venus de Medici has been repaired following the work of Saltash reclamation firm Stax. This is a fantastic park and I would really like to thank all those involved in making this a very special place indeed.”
