Local MP Sheryll Murray made time in her busy schedule recently to visit the Tamar Valley Donkey Park to listen to the issues faced by this important tourist venue in her constituency in St Ann’s Chapel.
The Park is home to over 25 donkeys and has many other attractions such as goats, sheep, pigs, indoor play areas, and adventure play area and even Santa stops off to meet children in the run up to Christmas.
Following her visit Sheryll said, “I would really like to thank park owner David Gibbons and his wife Julie for their kind hospitality at what was a very interesting visit. The registered charity park does good work on giving a warm and loving home to these wonderful creatures. Costs, such as feed, are rising and one of the main ways they can afford to keep up their good work is through visitors. I would encourage anyone looking for a fun day out to think about visiting Tamar Valley Donkey Park, it really is a great day out.”
In a statement the park said, “We were delighted to have a visit yesterday (Saturday 1st September) from our local MP Mrs Sheryll Murray who had requested a get to know us visit as part of her “finding out about local businesses” in South East Cornwall. After meeting most of our long eared residents and other rescued animals she wanted to know how the Sanctuary started and is faring in the recession. We told her that the recession was affecting the number of visitors and the weather had not helped either! She also spent time chatting to some of our visitors.”
