Sheryll Murray MP was pleased to join representatives from the Defence Discount Service, the only official Ministry of Defence (MOD) discount service, which allows members of the Armed Forces, their families and Veterans to make savings both online and on the high street.
The Defence Discount Service was launched last year and announced by Defence Secretary Philip Hammond and the card was launched by the Prime Minister who explained, "I am issuing a call to action to all companies to sign up to the Defence Discount Service. This is a very small way to say thank you to our men and women who do, and who have done, so much for us. As well as for their families who support them while they are on operations."
Sheryll was pleased to back this call and is keen to encourage South East Cornwall businesses to join the scheme to help support our Armed Forces and Veterans by accepting the Defence Privilege Card in store.
Sheryll explained, “This is one way in which we can say thank you to our excellent Armed Forces and I have asked the organisation to send me information on the scheme for local businesses. I would encourage any business who would like to offer a discount to either visit www.defencediscountservice.co.uk/support or to contact my office and I can send them information.
“South East Cornwall has a fantastic record of support for the armed services and I would like to thank everyone who gave so generously over the Remembrance period. I would also like to thank all those who came out to march and watch the many services across the Constituency. This year I attended Lostwithiel and Millbrook and the support was very clear to see.”
